Jilayne Lovejoy is a senior US qualified lawyer specialising in open source and an open source community leader at Canonical.
She leads the Linux Foundation sponsored Software Package Data Exchange® (SPDX) legal team and is the SPDX License List maintainer and was a founding member of the Linux Foundation’s OpenChain project. Jilayne is a regular international speaker on open source, including spdx, open chain and compliance.
Jilayne was principal open source counsel at the SOC Arm, where she advised legal, business, and engineering on open source related issues for 5 years and drove improved processes related to open source, including forming and chairing the Arm Open Source Office.
Prior to her time at Arm Jilayne was sole counsel at OpenLogic, a visionary provider of open source software support, provisioning, and compliance solutions to enterprises where she cut her teeth to become a recognised expert on all aspects of open source licensing and development. This experience has led Jilayne to be a thought leader and recognised expert in open source compliance.
Jilayne is a consultant to the Fintech Open Source Foundation with whom she has co-authored the Open Source License Compliance Handbook published in 2019, and provides consulting services in open source policy, strategy and other software licensing.
In her spare time, she can be found riding her bike(s) in the mountains of Colorado or co-hosting the geeky podcast, FOSS+beer.
